Junior Nate Knowles got the team off to a fast start with the field of fourteen teams, holding a solid eighth place throughout the lap and tagging off to freshman Lucas Stierwalt, who only improved the Knights' position throughout his turn on the course. The team of four riders took to the course at midday today to complete one lap each, and they found that the course had changed significantly overnight from the frozen tundra of Thursday's racing to a greasy mud that required an extra level of diligent bike handling. The Marian University Cycling team put the finishing touches on their third National Championship of the 2021-2022 season today in DuPage County, IL at the USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships, riding to a fourth place finish in the co-ed team relay and earning a fifth-place finish in the team omnium for the event.Īfter day one, with the individual races for men and women, the team sat in fifth place just seven points back from their nearest competitor, SCAD-Atlanta.
